Pope Francis says ‘irresponsible’ Western lifestyle must change to save Earth from global warming

Pope Francis made his strongest statements yet about climate change Wednesday, rebuking fossil fuel companies and urging countries to make an immediate transition to renewable energy.

In a new document titled “Laudate Deum,” or “Praise God,” the pope criticizes oil and gas companies for greenwashing new fossil fuel projects and calls for more ambitious efforts in the West to tackle the climate crisis.

National living wage to rise to £11 an hour, Jeremy Hunt to confirm – BBC News

The national living wage is set to increase to at least £11 an hour from next April, the chancellor is to confirm.
In a speech to the Conservative Party conference Jeremy Hunt is expected to say the move will benefit two million of the lowest-paid workers.
